Saturday, January 22, 9-12: Robust + Resourced: Foundations of Internal Support (in-person; Stuart, FL)

It’s normal to feel anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, and even powerless when life circumstances are stressful. It’s also possible to live with more joy, energy, strength and vitality under those same conditions.

Our bodies hold the key to our internal support system. We can learn to access our own resources to feel better, even when life is hard.

In this experiential, hands-on workshop, we’ll learn to harness the power of our inner support system and use our bodies’ natural resources to:

  • Keep stress hormones and tension patterns from getting “stuck” in your body
  • Understand & befriend your own unique nervous system process
  • Learn to mobilize stress energy for power or defense
  • Learn when and how to settle and soothe
  • Find ways to resource & ground yourself when things get rocky
  • Increase your natural capacity for stress
  • Use practical, accessible tools for on-the-spot stress support

This session includes discussion, interactive learning, accessible movement and mindfulness practices, as well as a guide and worksheets that we’ll explore together.

What to expect:

  • Lecture and discussion around the basic architecture and physiology of our nervous system (and what that looks and feels like in your own body)
  • Reframe your understanding of stress and how it can affect your health
  • Learn accessible, trauma-informed practices to support your body and mind
  • Find out why practices like deep breathing, meditation or massage may not always be the best FIRST response to a stressful situation (and why they may not be working for you)
  • Plenty of room for Q&A and opportunity to share (or not!)

This workshop is appropriate for anyone who has a body and is curious about how to use it more skillfully to work with stress and anxiety. If you have concerns about accessibility needs, please contact me!

This workshop is not a replacement for licensed mental health care, and may not be appropriate for folks who are experiencing active states of trauma, depression, anxiety, or overwhelm.

Saturday, February 12, 9-11:30: Creating The Sacred Circle (in-person, Stuart Florida)

Since ancient times, humans have traced the shapes of circles with their sacred objects, their art, and their bodies.

Carl Jung believed that the human psyche recognizes the circle as a symbol of wholeness, which is why making these shapes can help facilitate a sense of integration and completion.

Join Laura for this special workshop to explore the sacred circle through lecture, discussion, movement and embodied creativity.

What to expect:

  • Learn and practice basic circular patterns with Indian clubs
  • A creative movement practice, with music, that incorporates circular body movements
  • Drawing large circles (mandalas)–  I recommend wearing black clothing or “paint clothes” that you don’t mind getting dirty as you’ll have the option to use charcoal for drawing. Charcoal may not wash out of your clothing.

Our movement practice will include Indian clubs and bodyweight/free movement, as well as embodied mandala drawing practice. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like.
